Helen Curtis Gaw excellent if not phenomenal piano teacher for 79 of her 96 years. Her Father graduated and was a Faculty member of The New England Conservatory of Music and her Father a graduate and Faculty member himself. Helen belonged to the Dallas Music Teachers Association, Texas State Music Teachers Association, Louisiana State Music Teachers Association as well as National Music Teachers' Association. She was the last Charter Member of the Greater Shreveport Music Teachers' Association, which she founded in Spring 1962. She leaves her legacy in the hundreds of former students, some of whom became piano teachers themselves. Her oldest daughter Rosemarie is a music teacher in The Netherlands.
