About Me
Heidi has been teaching out of her private piano studio since 2001 in the greater Green Bay area. She is actively involved in the community as the Vice President of the Northeast Wisconsin Piano Teachers' Forum, the Treasurer for the National Federation of Music Clubs, the Dudley Birder Chorale, and serving in local church music ministries or playing in nursing homes and restaurants. Heidi has performed with the band Secret Tattoo on piano and vocals. The focal point of her piano studio is to challenge her students to stretch their musical gifts through rewarding and exciting music of all styles. She teaches ear training, music theory, technique and artistry, sight reading, and performance. Heidi has expanded her studio to include KiddyKeys lessons for ages 2-5 year olds. KiddyKeys are group music lessons specially tailored to this age group that caters to both aural, visual, and kinisthetic learners. These group lessons are different from traditional private piano lessons because the focus is on rhythm and ear training before introducing students to the keyboard. Heidi assists teaching the Recreational Music Making class through UWGB's Learning in Retirement program. The RMM class is a group class teaching retirees how to play the piano. Heidi currently plays on a regular basis at A's Restaurant and Music Cafe. Check out A's website for dates and times. Please refer to her website for additional information.
My Musical Education Background
Heidi has an extensive background in music. She grew up in a musical family, taking 15 years of private piano lessons through college. Heidi holds a B.A. in Music with an emphasis in Piano from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI.
Genres and Subjects Taught
Heidi teaches based on a classical approach, but students are definitely not limited to only learning classically. Depending on the interests of each particular student, Heidi incorporates rock, popular, contemporary, jazz, blues, boogie, and praise music into lessons. Heidi can teach students to play sheet music, chord sheets, or improvising from a fake book.
Lesson Rates
Lessons are $16 for a 30-minute lesson attended weekly. Students sign up for 45 lessons each year. The weeks off correspond with the seven major national holidays. Billing is monthly, and is a flat $60 each month.
There is a $20 library fee to cover wear and tear of loaned music, a three-pronged folder, and an assignment book. This fee also secures a spot in the Lueck Piano Studio.
Please see my website for complete billing information.
