About Me
Michael Shackelford is a multi instrumentalist/composer and recording artist who began teaching guitar at age 13 working for his grandfather at Archer Guitar School. Because he plays various instruments, Michael began teaching drums, bass, along with ukulele (continuing to teach guitar) at several schools and musical programs in the Birmingham area online and in person. Shackelford has composed and collaborated with Grammy winning engineers/artists and produced music which has been featured on HBO, Showtime, BBC, Spotify Viral Charts, and MTV’s NEXT. His music has been played globally. When Michael is not teaching he has scored soundtracks on NPR radio show “Arts & Letters”, recording other artists such as members of Chad Fischer Group, Bright Eyes, AA Bondy (Verbena), Maria Taylor Band) and getting ice cream with his fiancé and their collective daughters. Michael is excited to teach those who take music seriously and those who just want to play music for fun. Students under his instruction will learn how to play with proper technique: from rhythm with chords to lead melodies on stringed instruments guitar/bass/ukulele and piano as well as drums by way of exercises, charts, tabs, sheet music notation, and occasional video tutorials.
