About Me
With over 10 years of professional music performance and teaching experience across a broad span of styles and instruments, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies and Audio Production from the University of Oregon, Andrew brings a fun, focused and engaging experience to every lesson!
Lessons with Andrew are student-experience driven, meaning that not only can the student expect to get a solid grounding in the fundamentals of music, which transcends instruments, but they can also expect to apply those fundamentals to music which inspires and excites them to keep learning.
Andrew is a big believer in "teaching a man to fish". This means that in lessons he guides the student in building strong critical-thinking muscles, leading to a personal understanding into how the student can confidently approach learning new songs for themself. By helping students understand the "DNA" of a song, the student can develop a clear goal-based plan for learning it. This helps prevent burnout and skill plateaus.
