Since 2005, Ryu has been actively instructing piano and music lessons for beginning to college-prep level students ranging from three-years old to adult. In addition to her experience in teaching piano privately and in group settings, she has a firm background in percussion performance and education.
From 2007-2010 she was a member of the CSU Fullerton Wind Symphony under the guidance of Dr. Mitch Fennell, as their only pianist. Her recent pianistic involvement includes activities in both solo and chamber recitals. In 2010, she received the first winning prize in both the Orange Country Barbershop Chorus Scholarship and Sigma Alpha Iota Scholarship. In addition to her various achievements and winnings of her piano studies, she has earned multiple awards and gold medals through her percussion career with The Riverside Community College Percussion Ensemble and the world-touring Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. She has been featured in the March 2006 issue of In Tune Monthly Magazine. After earning her B.M in Piano Performance she continued her education at Cal State Fullerton for her M.A in Piano Pedgagogy. She has a single subject music education teaching credential from University of California Irvine, and she is currently attending Claremont Graduate University to earn a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance.
Anna is currently a member of MTAC (Music Teacher’s Association of California) and has served on the Board of Directors since 2012.
She is currently a music faculty of the Young Americans College of the Performing Arts, teaching group piano classes and music theory.
Her teaching philosophy centers around the concept of allowing flexibility in her teaching based on the students needs in order to meet their personal goals as a musician, and to satisfy a proper development in the student with a professional approach.
My Musical Education Background
After receiving a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance in 2010, Ryu continued her education at California State University Fullerton with a Master of Arts in Piano Pedagogy. She is currently completing her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performanfe at Claremont Graduate University.
As a performer, Ryu has been taking private lessons since the age of three and began performing and competing since she was seven. She has studied with respected teachers and professor Kyung-Suk Kwon, Gina Morton, Sergey Martinchuk, Junghwa Moon Auer, Alison Edwards, and Gayle Blankenburg.
In her percussion career, she has worked with world renown percussionists such as Sean Vega, Ike Jackson, Jim Wunderlich, Mike Jackson, and Scott Johnson.
Genres and Subjects Taught
Piano Lessons primarily consists of the following five major subjects of piano education-
REPERTOIRE: Classical, Popular Music, Beginning Jazz.
TECHNIQUE: A variety of technical development to improve performance.
EAR TRAINING: In class and in home training to develop listening skills.
THEORY: Step-by-step theory instruction to enhance compositional techniques.
SIGHT READING: Flash cards and excerpt exercises to accelerate music reading.

Percussion Lessons primarily consists of the following components-
RHYTHM: Reading, writing and playing.
COORDINATION: Using the different functions of the body to produce precision necessary in performance.
THEORY: Step-by-step theory instruction to enhance rhythmic elements and notations.
TECHNIQUE: Exercises reinforced to develop proper drumming techniques.
Lesson Rates
Lesson Rates will be discussed and disclosed at the initial meeting after the teacher evaluates and understands the student's needs and goals as a musician.
