About Me
Dr. Acker-Mills uses the Lister-Sink Method to cultivate efficient, biomechanically informed piano technique. Beginning piano students learn technical skills quickly as they develop well-coordinated ways to play the piano. More advanced students learn that ridding the body of excess muscle tension allows them to play music they may have considered to be beyond their technical skill. Most importantly, everyone learns that a free and supple technique allows them to maximize their musicianship at the piano.
Dr. Acker-Mills teaches in the music department at Auburn University, is a regular performer in the Auburn-Opelika area, and is organist at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn, AL.
