About Me
I love music..all kinds! It is a gift to be able to play the piano and I enjoy the chance to share that gift with others. I have taught for 27 years for students of all ages. Each student has been unique and has left their impression on me.
My Musical Education Background
I took several years of private lessons as a child and teen. I majored in Education in college with an emphasis in vocal music. In my teaching years I have accompanied the Marshfield Jr. High choir in concerts as well as several church choirs and school ensembles.
Genres and Subjects Taught
With beginners I use the Faber Piano Adventures method including an emphasis on piano theory and scales. Adults can also integrate some method books and theory while still playing pieces of enjoyment. I use different genres once basic note reading has been accomplished. However, I believe music should be creative and fun so I want my students to have opportunity to pick pieces they want to play as well.
Lesson Rates
My rate is 18.00 for half hour lesson. This is appropriate for beginners and intermediate students. Some advanced may require an hour lesson.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I will take beginners to advanced students. I have taught young beginners. 5 is the youngest but it takes alot of dedication to practice. So unless the child really desires to learn piano, I recommend waiting until they are 7.
My Musical Influences
I love classical music, Beethoven, Bach, Clementine, but also enjoy Disney hits as well. Blues and Jazz are fun to play and I enjoy Scott Joplin.
