About Me
I grew up in Greeley, attended University Schools K-8 (back when it was the lab school) and Greeley Central HS, graduating 2008. I graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango in 2014 with a double major: music performance and business administration. I have two older brothers: one is a doctor and the other a software engineer. My parents have been married since 1976 and are fortunately still going strong. For income I sub at schools around Greeley, teach private music lessons, play with a band, and also am running a home consulting business. In my free time I play sports and video games, read, watch movies, hang out with friends, and write songs. I love food, travel, music, sports (go Broncos!), and learning new things. I love teaching because I love learning. It's my mission to find what students love about learning in order to customize their lessons to their individual preferences and abilities.
My Musical Education Background
I have performed and played music my entire life. My parents enrolled me in kindermusik at age 2 and involved me in community theater productions throughout childhood. As a teenager I was inducted into the Int'l Thespian Society and performed with the elite choirs in high school. In college I studied music performance with a vocal emphasis (along with Business Admin) and performed with men's choir, chamber choir, and acappella choir, and Durango Choral Society. In Durango, I was a paid choral member at both Christ the King Lutheran Church and the Methodist church. I taught private lessons throughout college (appx 2012) and have also taught and conducted in group settings (band, choir, etc) since 2015. As a teacher I am positive, enthusiastic, motivating, and accommodating. I challenge students to build consistent habits to help them develop valuable skillsets and ultimately hone their overall style and prowess as musicians.
