About Me
Owner of THE HELLERT STUDIO in the Clifton Park Center Mall
Piano studio from 1987-present.
Professionally, I have performed in Washington DC and Chicago for the ASID conventions; locally for many social occasions.
Many of my students have participated in competitions and won: NYSSMA, Ithaca Piano Competition, Parillo Piano Competition, Chopin Competition, Tschaikovsky Piano Competition, and Garrison Keiler's Prairie Home Companion's Radio Show's Talent Competition- (6 chosen in U.S. and my student was one of them.)
Teaching techniques are my own based on the student: age, brain, intelligence, amount of dedication time to practicing and their previous experience in piano.

Genres and Subjects Taught
I teach classical piano. I enjoy all genres of music. If a student prefers 'rock' music, a 'rock' solo can be incorporated into the lesson along with Bach, Beethoven, etc. Scales and Theory are important. They aid in memorization, understanding, and interpretation. Learning the 'classical' way is the correct way of learning the piano. Different genres are dependent on the performer knowing how to affect the sound through touch and style. Composition is an excellent extension of the student's education at the piano. Some students have the talent, and, some do not. The students who desire composing, I can and will work with them.
Subjects taught: Bach to present. Depending on the student's brain, I love to challenge them with the music of the composer who connects with their brain: Amazing results!
