About Me
Retired man starting to give snare drum lesson in my home. Hills of Bear Creek, Cresson. Lived at this address 21+ years with wife & a cat. Used to teach drum lessons in my school days. I teach precision rudimental snare drumming for marching & Band settings. I do not teach kit or trap style drumming. A unique style that was invented & used by an undefeated national champion of snare drumming.
I have a college degree in biology. Retired from my own soils testing business of 30+ years.
My Musical Education Background
I played in high school band. My parents drove me 75 miles, each Saturday, to take drum lesson from an instructor whose students won snare drum contests. A vey unique style of drumming, hard to find an instructor of this style. It is precision snare drumming & takes practice. Style still used in many Drum & Bugle Corps.
It is not kit drumming. Just precision snare drumming based on the 40 drum rudiments. 26 rudiments, is older number. It is interesting & challanging. It is good for people from age 9 to 99. Adult students are also welcome.
Genres and Subjects Taught
Rudimental, precission snare drumming. Designed for band, marching bands, & solo. Not kit drumming or trap drumming. It is a form of Power Drumming that requires knowing the rudiments & how to count.
Lesson Rates
I charge $40 per half hour lesson, First lesson is $10, to allow student & parents to evaluate if this is what they are interested in learning. I am experienced at teaching drums to age 9 and up.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
Age 9 & up. Adults, wanting to learn something new, are also welcome.
My Certifications and Awards
I took 1 ratings at Tri State in high school. Started teaching students in 7th grade at a music store in Gt Bend, Ks.
My Musical Influences
I played solos for various community settings in my youth. I wrote marching cadences for high school marching band.
I think this unique style of drumming is hard to find. It was invented & used by undefeated rudimental champion. This is not used in kit drumming. It is for band, marching, solo & other precision drumming applicatons. You can see & measure a students progress. It is fun & very rewarding to learn. The drumming technique is a performance in itself. You can spot this style of drummer a mile away. It is vintage & modern.
I have seen people seeking this style in chat rooms for drummers. I have yet to find an instructor for it.
