About Me
Carl Storniolo is a versatile freelance percussionist who performs with ensembles throughout the Midwest. Performance credits include contemporary music ensembles such as Present Music and Music From Almost Yesterday. Carl is an active orchestra percussionist who performs frequently with ensembles throughout the region. This includes extra and substitute-percussionist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, Skylight Opera Theater, and the Bel Canto Chorus. Carl plays percussion for touring artists and has had the pleasure to perform with Frank Sinatra Jr., Aretha Franklin, Johnny Mathis, Don Rickles, and many others. He manages, composes, arranges and performs with the Pangaea Steel Drum Group. Carl plays regularly as vibraphonist and percussionist, with jazz ensembles, Latin bands, and big bands in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas.
Carl is an active music teacher and percussion educator. He currently teaches percussion ensemble and marching percussion at the Milwaukee High School of the Arts and Whitnall High School, and operates a private percussion studio. Carl has 30 years of teaching experience at a variety of music schools, high schools, and middle schools throughout southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Carl is an artistic partner with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra A.C.E. program, a position he has held since 1993.
Recent teaching affiliations include Milwaukee Public Schools and Boys and Girls Clubs of Milwaukee in partnership with the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music’s Conservatory Connection Program. Carl also served as drum line, front ensemble [pit] and percussion ensemble instructor for New Berlin Eisenhower and South Milwaukee High Schools.
Past teaching credits include Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, faculty instructor with the Cavalier Drum and Bugle Corps, Alverno College, and Director of the UWM Youth Percussion Ensemble Program. Carl served as artist-in-residence with the Wisconsin Arts Board and Very Special Arts Wisconsin from 1992 through 1998.
Carl earned his Masters of Music Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and a Bachelors of Music Degree from Northern Illinois University.

Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I teach students of all skill levels and ages. I have much experience with beginners [elementary through adult], middle and high school students, undergraduate and graduate students.
