About Me
I am a classically and formally trained pianist, as well as a private music instructor. I began playing piano at age 5, and have been playing piano now for over 25 years. I have been a piano instructor for the last 10 years and have a B.A. in Piano Accompaniment & Performance from the University of West Florida. I began playing flute at age 12, and piccolo at age 15. I have continued playing both as a soloist and in small groups, as well as instructing private lessons for the last 10 years.
I teach all levels (beginner through advanced) and ages of piano, flute and piccolo students and specialize in tailoring each student's curriculum to their individual interests, while still ensuring that basic technique and theory are emphasized. I am a firm believer of making learning fun, and believe an individualized curriculum is the best method of instruction.
My students also participate in many local performance opportunities such as recitals, festivals, and competitions.
I am an active member of the Pensacola Music Teachers Association:
- 2012 Baroque Festival Chair
- 2013 Sonata & Scholarship Contest Co-Chair
- 2013 Teens in Jeans Chair
- 2013 Baroque Festival Chair
- 2014 Teens in Jeans Chair
I am also an active member of the Florida Music Teachers Association:
- 2014 Convention Committee Workshop Coordinator
In March 2014, I officially began the year-long process to become a nationally certified piano and flute teacher through the Music Teachers National Association. I anticipate completion in early 2015.
