About Me
My teaching goals are to develop the musical potential of each student, to demystify the musical language through listening and theory exercises and creative activities, to help each student grow musically by working with their unique abilities and learning styles, to provide a variety of opportunities to help students gain confidence in piano performance and to develop enthusiasm for the piano and a heightened curiosity about music.
Independent piano teacher since 1977 and Kids on the Keys independent preschool program since 1984

Graduate level courses in Piano Pedagogy from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN; Elementary Education and Music Major degrees from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN; NKP (Nursery-School, Kindergarten, Primary) certified; Ongoing workshops and music teacher conventions
Genres and Subjects Taught
Private piano lessons for students ages four through adult with occasional group lessons. Kids on the Keys group classes for ages four through six.
Japanese koto floor harp lessons available for students with the instrument.

My Certifications and Awards
NCTM--Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through NMTA (National Music Teachers Association), Honored teacher of MMTF (Minneapolis Music Teachers Forum), former State Chair of MMTA Ensemble Festival, present chair of MMTA Early Childhood Music Education, frequent adjudicator for contests and exams.
My Musical Influences
I have brought quality music into the lives of hundreds of students over my teaching career, encouraging students to improvise, compose and perform their music.
