About Me
I am married and have 6 children ranging in age from 10 to 25 and we added our first grandchild this year. Outside of music, I love to cook and make my own bread. I have been homeschooling for 12 years and have about 8 to go! I am very involved in my church as a staff member and a volunteer and I love serving people.
My Musical Education Background
I have been playing the piano since I was 6 years old. I started learning chord structure by ear. I began taking lessons at age 8 and took all the way through college. Music was my minor with Elementary Education being my major. My father thought majoring in music was too risky and I needed a degree to teach anything. What have I taught more than anything else? Music!
Genres and Subjects Taught
I really like to use a mixture of things with my foundation being a standard curriculum from Alfred Publishing. Theory, Notation and Ear Training are key. I use some Faber & Faber for supplementary materials. I throw in Music History here and there along with trivia now and then. I also teach Voice Lessons as well.
Lesson Rates
I charge $100 a month. This is based on the 40 lessons per year at a rate of $30 per half hour lesson. We take time off during holidays and break between semesters.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
All ages are welcome from beginning to intermediate/early advanced.
My Certifications and Awards
I received ribbons and trophies throughout my training. Most ratings were superior with some outstanding performance recognition. I was the recipient of Who's Who in American Colleges & Universities in 1988 as well as Outstanding Young Women of America.
My Musical Influences
I love classical music! Beethoven and Rachmaninoff are by far my absolute favorites. I am also very involved with worship music at our church.
