About Me
I love to play the piano. When I was eleven years old, I began taking piano lessons and, after I graduated from high school, I decided I would major in music in college. My goal was to become a music teacher. I am now married and have three small children, who keep me very busy but are a joy to me. I teach piano lessons from my home in Plainview. A few of my hobbies include reading, drawing, spending time outdoors and sewing.
My Musical Education Background
I graduated from Wayland Baptist University having earned a Bachelor of Arts in General Music with an emphasis in piano and a minor in English. While attending Wayland, I studied piano under both Dr. Donna Ham and Dr. Richard Fountain, and I participated in several ensembles including Wayland Singers, Wayland Singing Women, the Wayland Handbell Ensemble, and the Wayland Jazz Ensemble. In addition to my piano studies, I gained experience as an accompanist and a piano teacher. During my time at Wayland, I taught private piano lessons through the Academy of Fine Arts.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I teach a wide range of genres and am willing to work with my students to find music they like. I feel it is important for students to have a well-rounded repertoire. I also take time in each lesson to teach my students music theory, which gives them a better understanding of music in general and aids them as they learn new pieces.
