About Me
BIOGRAPHY
I have over 20 years of teaching and international performing experience. Whether the purpose of studying piano is pure pleasure or professional pursuit, I adapt my teaching method and curriculum according to the specific needs of each individual student.
My students participating in national tests, auditions and adjudicated recitals, have been awarded outstanding scores and passed with high merit and honor, including a Leschetitzky award based on talent recognition. All of my students perform bi-annually at Steinway Hall, NY. Additional performing opportunities are offered to highly gifted students.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
My principle philosophy is to cultivate and nurture students' natural talent to its optimal level, to reach their own personal goal, by providing the necessary technical tools to facilitate artistic expression and to develop versatile musicians.
Technical training is developed alongside musical appreciation and comparison to other art forms.
I believe in a respectful teacher/student relationship. Lessons are designed to be dynamic, creative, educational and filled with enthusiasm and fun.
PERFORMING EXPERIENCE:
In addition to teaching, I have performed as a soloist and chamber musician in the US, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. Some of the performance venues include: Steinway Hall, NY; Strathmore Hall Performing Arts Center, Rockville, MD; Weigell Hall at the OSU campus; Concordia University in Montreal, Canada; Casino of Lebanon in Beirut, Lebanon and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
COMPETITIONS:
Liszt & Ravel national piano competition, Beirut, Lebanon. First Prize Winner
Spanish Music competition, Beirut, Lebanon.
First Prize Winner. Full scholarship awarded to study at the International Music Festival in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
Numerous TV and Radio broadcasts in Beirut, Lebanon, and on WQXR in NYC.
SPECIALITIES:
5 years of training in Alexander Technique, which prevents the formation of bad habits and reduces physical tension through postural awareness.
1 year of teacher training in Dalcroze method from the Dalcroze School of Music, in New York.
