About Me
My name is Sean Kleve and I'm a free-lance percussionist living in Madison, WI. During the week, I teach private percussion and piano lessons in my home studio. I have an upright piano and all the standard percussion instruments (snare drum, marimba, drum set, vibraphone, xylophone, congas, and many more!).
I have been a musician for my entire life, beginning violin lessons at the age of 3, piano lessons at 4, and percussion lessons at 11. I have over 16 years of private teaching experience and have worked with students of all ages (3 to 75!) My teaching focuses on the fundamentals of technique, note-reading, and musical expression. Although many of my students have chosen a career in music, many of my students study music with me just for the fun of it!
As a performer, currently I am the music director of Madison's experimental contemporary percussion ensemble, Clocks in Motion. Also, you may have heard me perform occasionally with the Madison Symphony, Four Seasons Theater, and many other local musical establishments.
Whether you're a parent looking for a teacher for your child, or a hobbyist/adult looking to take drum lessons or piano lessons, please don't hesitate to contact me.

My Musical Influences
My grandfather Morton Estrin, is a concert pianist and was a great source of motivation for me as a young musician. My mother was my primary piano teacher and in the summer, I would travel to NYC where I would take private piano lessons with my grandfather! What an inspiration!
Currently I love listening to and performing contemporary music! Some of my favorite composers are living or from the 20th century. John Cage, Iannis Xenakis, George Crumb, and many more.
Some of my favorite performers of all time are: Glenn Gould, Nexus, So Percussion, Miles Davis, Nancy Zeltsman, Steve Schick, and the Cleveland Orchestra, just to name a few...
