About Me
Hello! My name is Leah Hanstra and I am a music therapist working in the St. Joseph County. I am looking to increase my piano studio that I have part-time and would love to work with you or your child on experiencing the joys and benefits of piano playing!
I am both willing to drive to your place or have lessons at my apartment in Mishawaka, IN.
My Musical Education Background
I have a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Music Therapy from Indiana Wesleyan University. My main instrument while studying there was piano.
I have over 20 years of piano experience, and have taught students on and off since high school. I also have experience with teaching and working with individuals on the autism spectrum, and can adapt my lessons to accommodate your needs.
Lesson Rates
Averaging at about 40 lessons per year, my rates are as follows:
30 minute lessons=$85/month
45 minute lessons=$135/month
60 minute lessons=$175/month
If there are months that you are needing to take off (for sports or summer months), I am willing to be flexible, but with a small fee. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

All ages are welcome!
I have the most experience with teaching beginner to intermediate levels, but have been learning and growing as I gain more experience!
My Musical Influences
I mostly use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventure books and this has been my guide to teaching my students. Along with these books, I incorporate the knowledge and skills I've gained from college as well as my past piano teacher's styles. I was classically trained, and often influenced by classical composers, but I have also gained skills in contemporary styles, such as the use of chords with popular music.

My first review was being impressed with speaking on the phone with Leah. I now would like to sing her praises as a piano teacher. Leah has become a dear friend and teacher to my granddaughter. She is excelling through Leah's skill, kindness, and patience. Maddie never needs to be reminded to practice. If anything I need to remind her to do other homework. Leah is outstanding and any student will be fortunate to study with her
