About Me

I am located in Santa Maria, CA., but I am accepting students from all US timezones.

My Musical Education Background

I have been playing guitar over seventeen years. This includes periods of private lessons and self teaching. I have taken lessons from some of the best jazz guitar players in the world.

I've always loved teaching. With music, I love figuring out how to motivate a student to put in the work. I hand them the tools they need to progress in skill so they can level up to meet their goals.

Music is a skill you can learn and continue to develop and enjoy throughout life. most players find their progress is uneven. Plateaus in skill can be hard to work through. I can help beginning and intermediate students travel the most direct path to meet their goals and have fun along the way. It's not too early or too late for you to begin. Enjoy the journey!

Genres and Subjects Taught

Absolute Beginner will learn basic music reading, major minor and dominate chords in open position, basic strumming patterns, travis picking, folk and classical songs.

Late beginner will study the Blues rhythm and lead in depth. The Blues is the best gateway to the styles of Rock, Country, R&B, Worship/Gospel and Jazz.

Early intermediate will dive further into advanced blues playing and it's application to other musical genres. At this level a student may also specialize in their favored style of music.

Late intermediate: jazz comping, improvization, chord melody.

Lesson Rates

Tuition is a flate rate of $120 per month.

Ages / Skill Levels Taught

All ages welcome.

The guitar is a challenging instrument for children aged 5-7. I can teach young children Ukulele, a perfect instrument for tiny hands. Ukulele skills transfer easily to the guitar.

8-16 is often considered the ideal window for becoming proficient at an instrument, and can lead to a life-long enjoyment of playing music.

65+: As someone who didn't pick up guitar before age 30, I know that it's not too late to begin learning.
