About Me
Hello, I am Michele Rieder. I teach piano from my in-home studio in the Kernersville,NC area. I partner with students and parents of young students to develop my student's musical abilities as they learn to play piano. As a teacher, as well as a parent of 4 grown children, I have personal goals to keep learning fun while approrpriately challenging my students. I work hard to assist parents in developing children into confident adults by blending mentorship with piano lessons in ways that help students grow in musicianship and self confidence that will exapnd beyond the piano bench. I also enjoy teaching adults. More and more, adults are calling for piano lessons either as beginners or to pick back up their music education that was left behind somewhere in childhood. I find these students are a joy to teach. I strive to meet each student exactly where he or she is and work to tailor lessons to the individual. No cookie cutter lessons! I am comfortable with all levels of students beginner to advanced. I am a member of the Music Teacher's National Association (MTNA).

My Musical Influences
I came from a musical family. My father and paternal grandmother were both pianists. As I was growing up, I had the good fortune of having 2 different but both excellent piano teachers, Shirley Walker and Becky Jenkins. I began taking piano for college credit my junior year in high school from Miss Thelma Rast, a reputable piano professor at Lenoir Rhyne College. Miss Rast remained my primary piano teacher throughout college. She was an amazing teacher. Her influence has remained powerful in my own teaching throughout the course of time. I was able to play piano for my high school chorus and to play for my church throughout highschool and college. These experiences, as well as others, did a lot to help me develop into a more mature musician at an earlier age than might otherwise have been possible. I continue to be grateful for my well rounded music education.
