About Me
Nanette offers music lessons for aspiring artists of all kinds. Piano lessons give you the opportunity to learn everything that goes into properly playing a piano. From the keys, to the pedals, to the tempo, you will learn how to bring together these sounds to create beautiful music. Students will learn the Classical Dorothy Taubmann Piano Technique; a form based on healthy movements, preventing repetitive motion injury. Sonneman Studio Piano, Voice and Drama’s piano lessons make heavy use of performance-based theory.
Each student is valued as an individual with creative potential. Each personality is matched with complimentary music.
My Musical Education Background
Bachelor degree in Voice and Theater from Adrian College. Master's degree in Piano Pedagogy from Oakland University. Four years professional acting experience in international drama company Covenant Players, including tours throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. Continuing opera vocal study with Carolyn Grimes , New York opera singer. Specializing in classical piano chamber music with strings, musical theater performance and directing. Over 25 years of teaching and performing experience.

If you are looking to strengthen your voice, Sonneman studio is also here to help. Vocal lessons are a great way for you to harness the power of your own voice. Not only will you learn how to sing, you can also learn how to read music through basic piano skills. From Disney tunes & jazz ballades to Broadway hits & opera arias: as a hobby or for professional training, you will receive expert help using Alexander and Italian Bel Canto techniques from a professional actress/singer. Performing opportunities include 2 recitals/year with occasional small-group lessons to improve performing skills.

My Musical Influences
Over 25 years of experience. Classical technique with a variety of styles, including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven to Jazz. Private lessons stress music theory & composition, music history and career prep. Dorothy Taubman Technique for many years of injury-free playing, plus interpretation in the direct teaching line of Chopin.
Voice lessons focus heavily on use of Alexander and Italian Bel Canto techniques from a professional actress/singer influenced by musical theatre shows such as Oklahoma, The Sound of Music, and The Phantom of the Opera. Also teaches songs featured in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and light opera such as Mozart's The Magic Flute.
