About Me
Nancy Finney is a pianist, singer/songwriter, and musician based in Big Sky, Montana. Finney performs songs in Denver and Big Sky with her bandmates and has taught piano lessons for nearly 20 years.
My Musical Education Background
I have been trained by musicians and professors at Western Michigan University, the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. I've taken lessons since I was five years old, have done master classes with a number of classically trained pianists, and have continued to learn about the instrument, theory, methodology, and the art of teaching.
Genres and Subjects Taught
Composition/Songwriting and classical are my fortes. I also focus on rote learning and methodology for universal learning.
Lesson Rates
I generally charge around $35 for a half-hour lesson. If you have more than one student in the family, I can do discounted rates. I also appreciate referrals and am happy to do a free lesson when that happens.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I have experience in teaching at-risk youth, students with special needs – such as autism and ADHD, and adult learners. 4 or 5 years old to adults, and am happy to help anyone learn!
My Certifications and Awards
Musician of the Year.
Headlined shows at numerous venues in Denver, Colorado.
My Musical Influences
I love Bartok, Debussy, and Prokofiev. I also love Tori Amos, Elton John, Eric Clapton, John Mellencamp, Jewel, and Greensky Bluegrass.
