About Me
Sharing the joy of music has been my passion since childhood. I began studying piano at the age of 4 and have been performing since the age of 6.
I have taught piano privately in my studios in Canada, Texas and Washington for over 35 years.
I also love to record and currently have 2 recorded music CDs.
Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced student, my hope is that the students come out of each lesson with confidence that they have learned something or are on their way of accomplishing what they want to work on.
My Musical Education Background
I was classically trained at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, Canada. There I completed my Associate of Royal Conservatory Teachers in piano performance.
Bachelor of Music Piano Performance from University of Toronto, Canada
Master of Music Piano Performance and Pedagogy from East Texas State University, Commerce, TX
Genres and Subjects Taught
My goal in teaching piano to students, is for them to learn in a positive atmosphere, for me to be able to share my enjoyment of music, and hopefully, for them to also enjoy playing. During the lessons, I emphasize the basics of note reading, technic, learning songs/pieces, theory and good practice habits. Depending on the age and level, a variety of fun activities, ear training, transposing, and playing songs of students' choice are incorporated into the lessons. I try to encourage the students' strengths and also focus on the things the students need to practice, depending on their level. Each student is unique and as I get to know the students, I am able to use my flexibility and musical training to develop ways to teach them.
I encourage my students to participate in recitals, contests and other performance projects (making a tape for example).

My Certifications and Awards
My experience and training have allowed me to be the recipient of numerous awards in solo and duo piano competitions throughout my childhood into young adulthood. This includes 1st place in Canada as a piano duo and many gold, silver and bronze medals at various festivals and competitions. Some performances include solo and duo piano, chamber music and symphony orchestras, choirs and with vocalists and instrumentalists.
My Musical Influences
My musical influences can be attributed to my piano teachers and professors at an early age at the Conservatory, as well as Universities. I've always enjoyed collaborating with other musicians, creating music together.
My training actually includes teachers that have a direct lineage to the great composer Franz Liszt.
