About Me
A graduate of New England Conservatory, Ryan Ottaviano studied piano and composition and received his BM in music in 2006. Follwing his studies, Ryan pursued independent study in music education and attained MA K-12 State Certification in 2007. While at NEC, Ryan worked with Dr. Larry Scripp, director of the MIE (music in education) department as a research assistant with a focus on early childhood development. He also collaborated extensively with NEC’s preparatory pre-college division, where he organized concerts, coached ensembles, and served as accompanist for the school chorus. Select awards include the ASCAP Plus Award and the prestigious New England Conservatory Preparatory School Piano Composition Competition. Ryan's first love is musical composition. As a composer, his influences are mostly tonal, with a special love of Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert and Debussy. When asked about what shapes his music, Ryan had this to say: "My goal as an artist has always centered upon finding my own voice in existing genres. I strive to embrace our collective musical heritage with the aim of finding new and personalized means of expression within our already existing tonal language."
