About Me
If you are looking for a teacher with lots of patience and years of experience, look no further.
I offer private lessons at my home (Brookside Avenue, Old Bridge, NJ) and at students' homes, for students of all ages and levels of experience. Parents are more than welcome to sit in on their children's lessons.
I have been playing piano and percussion for over 30 years, and playing professionally for over 25 years. I have taught professionally for over 20 years and owned my own studio for the past 10 years.
My Musical Education Background
I have a Master of Music degree from Rutgers University (New Brunsick, NJ), a Bachelor of Music degree from University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), and a Drum Set Certificate from Grant Macewan College (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada). I have been playing piano and percussion for over 30 years, and playing professionally for over 20 years. I have taught professionally for over 20 years and owned my own studio for the past 10 years.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I teach Piano, Percussion, Drums, Marimba, Xylophone, and Timpani.
In addition to teaching playing and performing techniques, I also make sure all of my students get a good foundation in music theory and ear training so they can continue to learn and grow as musicians outside of our weekly lessons.
Students in my studio have the opportunity to perform solo and chamber works on my annual studio recital, and my advanced percussion students have opportunities to perform as extras in the orchestras with which i play.

Deven P
Metuchen, NJ
Hi! My name is Alpa Patel. My six year old son, Deven Patel, has been taking lessons from Mr. Scott. He started when he was five years old. Mr. Scott would come to my place and teach him how to play keyboard. He is always punctual and prepared for the class. Mr. Scott is also flexible with his schedule. My son has learned to play piano from him really well. I would recommend Mr. Scott to any other parents.

Scott is an extremely dedicated teacher. He is enthusiastic and truly devoted to the education of his students, and is willing to work very hard for them in a way that many teachers are not. Scott isn't simply someone doing what he does to collect a paycheck; he's truly passionate about music and about teaching music to other people, and that is why lessons with him can be such a rewarding experience. Scott is a very experienced and qualified teacher who has studied with many renowned professors in both Canada and the U.S. As a result, he brings with him a great deal of pedagogical and general musical experience to every scenario he is put in. Whether you are interested in studying piano and percussion, or whether you are looking to teach or gain experience freelancing, Scott has many years of first hand experience and can give you opportunities as a student that many teachers cannot. Scott is a very well-rounded musician, and his educational methods aspire to instill similar ideals in his students. In a demanding musical world that requires performers versatile in many areas, Scott is an ideal teacher for young musicians because he brings an uncommon package of being able to teach, perform, and understand many different instruments from marimba, to timpani, to drum set, and piano.
