About Me
I have been teaching piano for 44 years. I began taking piano at the age of 6 and began playing the organ and piano for church and for weddings at the age of 11. I also accompanied at school functions in elementary school and accompanied chorus through high school and have continued to accompany Trask Middle School Chorus for the last 20 years. I began teaching piano at the age of 16.
My Musical Education Background
I attended Bob Jones University, transferred and graduated from UNC-W. I am involved in the National Guild Auditions, NC Music Teachers Assoc. and the Suzuki Association. I have continually attended workshops for Suzuki Piano as well as various workshops and conventions offered by the NCMTA.
Genres and Subjects Taught
30 minute, 45 minute and hour voice and piano lessons are offered to all ages, 4 through adult, in my studio. I do not go to homes. In the lessons, we work on repertoire, scales, theory, improvisation and other things that students may desire help with. We have several set performances throughout the year, such as a recital at Hermitage House in October, recitals in December and May, group performance with other teachers' students in January as well as the Monster Duet Recital through the Cape Fear Music Teachers' Assoc. and miscellaneous piano recitals offered by the CFMTA. Students are also offered the opportunity to perform in the NCMTA Contest/Festival, Federation, and the National Guild Auditions.

Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I offer lessons to students age 4 through adult, beginning through intermediate.
My Musical Influences
I play for church and I volunteer at Trask Middle School as the pianist for the chorus.
I have had students to take lessons for 12 or 13 years and minor in piano at college or take lessons for fun. Most students continue to play and some have become piano instructors.
