About Me
Amy has been teaching full time for 30 years. Amy graduated from Ithaca College, in Ithaca, NY, with a degree in Music Education, with concentrations in piano and saxophone. Amy also teaches organ, and is the organist at The Presbyterian Church, Fredericksburg, VA. All new students receive the first three lessons for free. Amy's students consistently receive ratings of Superior in the local and regional festivals. Morning, afternoon, and evening lesson times available.
My Musical Education Background
B.S. in Music Education from Ithaca College, with concentrations in piano, organ, and saxophone.
Genres and Subjects Taught
Classical piano, organ, and harpsichord.
Saxophone, clarinet, and flute.
Music Theory, including AP Music Theory, and preparation for the AP Theory exam.
All levels, from beginning up to advanced, including college audition preparation. Ages 5-19.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
All ages, from age 5 to 18 and older. All skill levels, from rank beginner with no experience, to serious advanced students, including college audition preparation.
Amy is proficient in literary Braille, through the transcriber's course from the National Library of Congress (UEB and EBAE), and has knowledge of Braille Music as well. Amy welcomes any and all vision-impaired students who love music!
My Certifications and Awards
Amy is a member of the Rappahannock Music Society (RMS), the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), the National Guild of Piano Teachers (NGPT), the Suzuki Association of Americas (SAA), the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director's Association (VBODA), Virginia Music Educator's Association (VMEA), and NAfME.
