About Me
I have been teaching piano privately for over 40 years. I teach all levels from beginner, intermediate, and advanced. I want students to feel relaxed and have fun. Stickers and pencils are rewards for the little ones. Go to the top of your screen and click on "website" and see my recently rebuilt piano studio. This is where you could be learning piano in a spacious and acoustically warm sounding music room. My piano is an exquisitely restored 1920 Steinway grand (restored by Cunningham Piano Company.)
My Musical Education Background
My mother was my first teacher, Patricia Kirgan. I then studied from her teacher, Irma Harter and her teachers were: Robert and Gaby Casadesus, Isidor Phillipp, and Theodor Leschetizky. After Ms. Harter, my teachers were: Rebecca Oekernman, David Bradshaw, and Laurie Ticehurst-Poole.
Genres and Subjects Taught
My main focus is classical but it's also fine if a student wants to learn a popular piece. I also teach music theory, scales, chords, arpeggios, technique and sight-reading.
