About Me
With more than 30 years of teaching experience, Ms. Tara Hofmeister Sheng was the first foreign professor in the history of the High School Attached to the Central Conservatory of Music (中央音乐学院附中) in Beijing, China, to be unanimously voted onto the piano faculty, where she taught full-scholarship students and helped them win scholarships to study at the best conservatories in the world.
Ms. Sheng is passionate about working with children and understands the importance of teaching them correctly from the beginning while inspiring them to love music! She learned how to teach children from Mr. Solomon Mikowsky at the Manhattan School of Music. She was also fortunate to study piano pedagogy from Eleanor Nelson of The Juilliard School.
Ms. Sheng was Co-Founder & Artistic Director of the International Music Institute of China (中国国际音乐学院) in Beijing, China.
Ms. Sheng currently resides in New Jersey with an active teaching studio in Parsippany.
