About Me
I have taught music at both the secondary and community college level. I have also been involved in church music as a director of adult choral, youth choral, and children's youth and adult handbell choirs for over 20 years. I maintain a private studio of 10-12 music students in Hickory, NC, and am an adjunct instructor in music at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, in Hudson, NC. I was a prior instructor in piano/voice for the Harper School of Performing Arts in Lenoir, NC, and a prior music instructor for the NewArt School in Newton, NC. I was a member of the Hickory Choral Society for 15 years as a singer, serving also as a board member for 2 years. Lesson Rates
Lessons are based on 37 weeks of instruction divided into 10 monthly payments that include mid August thru late May.
The fee structure is as follows: 45 minutes-$125/month, 1 hour-$165/month. Students may pay monthly or choose a semester payment option. For those desiring a 2-payment option, the first semester tuition will be due by August 1 and second semester tuition will be due by Jan 1. You may choose to convert from one payment plan to another at the conclusion of a semester period.
Students will be required to sign up for a discounted 4-lesson summer pack during the months of June and July if it is not possible to attend on a weekly basis to retain a spot in the studio. It is preferred students choosing the 4-pack schedule two lessons each month during this interim to allow for continuity, but is not required. You may remain on a normal weekly schedule, which will consist of an 8-week session, if you are able to attend more than the required 4 lessons during this interim. Missed lesson policies will apply.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
Options include a 45-minute lesson in piano for ages 10 through adults. Students in grade 6 who wish some prelininary vocals would require a 45-minute slot consisting of 30 minutes of piano instruction and 15 minutes of vocals. Students 12 years of age or above who desire both voice and piano will require an hour time slot with 30 minutes of instruction in each area. You must be willing to take both piano and voice for any vocal instruction desired without prior study in a musical instrument.

My Musical Influences
There is a wealth of evidence that indicates that music lessons offer children intellectual benefits. There are indications of higher grades and IQ scores, lower incidence of misbehavior and higher level reading and math skills.
