I was a student of Alice Stackhouse when she first starting teaching in Jennings. Circa 1952-3. I was around 8-9 years old. Alice was just out of college and was the only piano teacher who would take me , because I was missing 3 fingers from my left hand, due to an accident. I studied with Alice until I graduate from high school in 1962, when I went on to LSU to study music. From LSU I went on to make music my career, having performed with many musical professionals such as Norman Luboff, Ray Coniff, Fred Warring, Henry Mancini, Roger Wagner, and Bill Conti to name a few. My musical career would not-- could not have happened without a superb teacher like Alice Stackhouse. Not only did she take me on as a student when no one else would, she nurtured me as a mentor, a teacher, and a friend. I recommend her highly-- without reservation!!
