About Me
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY My motivation to give music lessons springs from two joys, the joy of music and the joy of teaching. My role is comparable to a coach who encourages and guides, communicating techniques that will enable students to express ideas and emotions through music, to create music that is inspired. My approach is to provide a nurturing and structured environment and one sensitive to the differences in learning styles. My goal is that students 1) develope the joy of music reading skills and 2) discover the joy of making and sharing music with both good accuracy and fine artistry. To achieve thes goals my responsibility is to teach students how to practice, the student's responsibiity is to practice, and the parents' responsibility is to communicate to their youn pianists that they are expected to practice. All three of us - teacher, student, and parents - understanding our responsibilities together are essential for music progress to occur.
