About Me
This year marks 24 years of piano teaching for Regina Ziliani. In 1988 she accepted her first piano student while still in high school. She maintained a large studio throughout college teaching at Oakbrook Preparatory School, Case Brothers and in her private home studio. Regina was named Daniel Music Scholar at Converse College, and while a student also continued her violin study as well, performing with the Converse Chamber Ensemble and the Greater Spartanburg Philharmonic. In 2001 Regina moved to San Jose, CA and accepted the position of piano instructor on faculty at Campbell Music School. Then in 2004 she and her husband, Jeff, moved to Charlotte. Regina never expected her home studio in Charlotte to grow so quickly, but soon she would hire an assistant teacher and grow to 84 piano students. It became evident that southeast Charlotte needed more music teachers, and needed a professional music school...Charlotte Academy of Music. In August of 2008 Regina opened the doors to the Academy, realizing a lifetime dream of providing a school where students of all ages and instruments have opportunities to study with master teachers and participate in many enriching musical classes, ensembles and events. Regina's students have actively participated as State, National and International Winners at the National Piano Guild Playing Auditions for the past 16 years. Her students consistently receive "Superior" ratings at NCMTA, NFMC Piano Festival and the NFMC Piano Scholarship Fesitval. Several of Mrs. Ziliani's students have gone on to major colleges and universities to pursue music-related careers. Regina Ziliani was blessed to study with wonderful pedagogues and performers such as Dr. Hao Huang, Dr. George Lucktenburg, Lera Borden, and Dr. Henry Janiec, former conductor of the Charlotte Symphony. Regina holds professional memberships with Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), NC Music Teachers National Association, National Guild of Piano Teachers, Charlotte Piano Teachers Forum and the National Federation of Music Clubs. She has served as Adjudicator for the National Piano Guild Playing Auditions and the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival. Regina chairs both the Theory and Instrument events for the Charlotte chapter of the NFMC Festival.

Our daughter has been attending Charlotte Academy of Music since it opened. She has developed a love of music and piano and we are just thrilled. The environment at Charlotte Academy of Music is warm, inviting, and “everyone knows your name”. The owners, Jeff and Regina make it a point to always acknowledge the students and offer or recognize any special little “tidbit” that most business owners would not have the time to be bothered with! My daughter’s teacher Manana Restiano, lovingly known as Mrs. Gigi, is a delight personally and her professional resume and knowledge, well they speak for themselves. She freely shares her knowledge in a fun, exciting way every week. The music lab is fabulous. We feel like our daughter is not only learning how to play the piano, but she is learning music theory, music history, and learning to one day compose her own beautiful melody! One of our dreams has always been that our daughter learns to play piano and make beautiful music and thanks to Charlotte Academy of Music this dream can come true! For anyone who has ever or is currently considering getting your child started with some type of music lessons we highly recommend Charlotte Academy of Music. You won’t be disappointed. ~Alan and Peggy, Academy Parents

Regina Ziliani is a gifted piano teacher who joyfully shares her love of music with her students! She is a very talented and accomplished musician in her own right, and has a contagious enthusiasm for musical performance. She has many creative ways to instruct and inspire her students, including the variety of music she uses in her instruction, computer-based learning tools, and incentive programs for lesson preparation and performance. Notably, “Mrs. Z” has a great personality for relating to students, particularly children. My two daughters are excited to go to piano lessons each week, and thoroughly enjoy their time with her! In sum, I couldn't have dreamed up a better musical instruction experience for my daughters, and we choose to travel to Charlotte Academy of Music each week even though there are a number of other piano teachers more convenient to our home. Who could possibly compare? ~Leanne Burnett, parent
