About Me
I was educated on organ and classical piano as a child through late teenage years, playing and winning competitions regularly. I received a B.S. Mechanical Engineering and worked in the corporate world as design engineer and software sales manager. Later as an entrepreneur, I created and ran a design and retail business.
My interest in classical music performance renewed as a mid-life adult. During the past five years I have been trained by a highly respected performance and pedagogical leader and attended summer workshops where I received private training by a Juilliard graduate and concert pianist. I also have acquired an in-depth knowledge of college level theory through private tutoring.
I have attended many educational conferences, seminars, and master classes and participate regularly in recitals. I currently work as a substitute church pianist.
Lessons include appropriate technique, theory, and repertoire. I teach the process of learning, practicing, and playing music as a holistic tool for wellness, stress relief, mental comfort, and emotional happiness. Lessons are individualized to your goals and interests as a student.
My life experiences have given me the ability to communicate well with various types of people and styles of learners. I do not utilize only one method series as I structure my curriculum to the individualized needs of each of my students. It is my goal to not only teach the proper technique and repertoire of the piano but to bring the peace and joy of music learning and playing to my students.
