About Me
Dear students and parents,
Dr. Edvinas Minkstimas, Steinway Artist and winner of international piano competitions, is offering lessons and expert guidance for aspiring young musicians and serious adult students, who seek to perfect their technique, expand the repertoire, deepen their understanding of music and structure of musical compositions. Dr. Minkstimas has completed his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music Degrees at the Juilliard School (studio of prof. Jerome Lowenthal) and his Artist Diploma studies at the Paris Conservatory(studio of prof. Michel Beroff). Currently, Dr. Minkstimas serves as Chair of Piano Department at the Washington Conservatory of Music and as Artist-in-Residence of the Embassy Series and the Phillips Collection Music Series in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Minkstimas has appeared in solo performances and with orchestras in world's leading venues, such as the Carnegie and Weill Recital Halls, Alice Tully Hall, The Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Salle Gaveau, Salle Pleyel and Cite de la Musique in Paris, Dag Hammarskjold auditorium at the United Nations, among other.
Dr. Minkstimas' experience will help students prepare for auditions and regional, state, national and international competitions. He serves as a jury member for competitions of all levels and is thoroughly familiar with the challenges every aspiring competitor faces today.
Dr. Minkstimas is an expert of music theory, analysis, history and composition, which he studied back in his native Lithuania and at the Paris Conservatory. He applies his knowledge of these subjects to provide comprehensive musical education for every student.
All student inquiries are welcome and first lesson is free of charge, but the availability is limited and every student will be asked to audition during the first lesson. Based on the prospective students' needs and skills, Dr. Minkstimas will suggest a study course, which includes technical, sight-reading exercises, homework assignments and music to study.
