About Me
I have loved playing piano since I was 3 years old, barely tall enough to reach the piano keyboard.
I live south of Fort Worth, Texas on a beautiful lake in a pink Victorian cottage.
I have been married for over 40 years and have 2 grown children, 2 grandsons, and 1 great granddaughter.
My Musical Education Background
I took personal private piano lessons from age 7 until I was 35 (with a break of about 10 years to start a family).
I took lessons from some very good teacher/pianists including my church organist (who had a master's degree in music) and another concert pianist.
I have taken college level private piano lessons from a college professor.
I also, got more training learning and playing for church congregations and church choirs for over 30 years.

Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I teach children as young as 4 if they can comprehend basic piano skills and show a definite interest.
I will teach any age as long as they are willing and able to learn.
My Certifications and Awards
I have most of my training in active service as a church pianist on staff in more than one church in the Fort Worth-Dallas area.
When I was in 5th grade I won a talent competition playing 'God Bless America' including an elaborate ending displaying my skills playing arpeggios up and down the piano keyboard.
I have been one of the regular entertainers at a local family pizza restaurant playing requests and favorites.
I am currently the director and music coordinator of my own band, Crystal Fields Band in the DFW area.
My Musical Influences
I especially admire the talents of Yanni and Michael W. Smith with their unique skills and styles on piano. I love to listen to Billy Joel play piano.
I also love to play styles like Enya on electronic keyboards.
I learned early on to love and appreciate the old Masters from the classical music world like Bach and Mozart and many others too many to name.
I was influenced as a young girl from the talents of my great aunt Ethel and great aunt Martha Hamm who could 'burn' the keys with their energetic style playing of old southern gospel piano for their family singing groups.
My dad had such a deep bass voice that he couldn't sing the old hymns in the keys they were written in, so he always asked me to transpose them down within his range on the piano. That was how I learned to play so well by ear and to transpose familiar tunes by ear.
My mother was a concert-level pianist in college and was my piano teacher until I turned 16 when I moved on to other teachers.
