My Musical Influences
Studying in New York City at the Juilliard School was one of the remarkable events in my life. The traditional piano playing and I got to witness the Golden Age of Piano Playing in the 80's and 90's was one the milestones in my life.
Digesting all of this at University of Michigan was the next great thing that happened to me, I had great teachers while there. At the time, I didn't realize, but now years later, I know what became important.
Canin led the way to a panoramic view of musical literature, Nina the world of sound and touch, Arthur, the way to a musical life and the focus for total professionalism.
I began to wonder there is got to be more to the life of a starving artist, and no one taught me how to improvise, so, I spent the next 5 years in Madison, learning how to re-create what I learned and expand and constantly learning and learning.
I love the musical community here, kids love the learn, adults love to see what I can offer to their kids. I am here at least for awhile.
