About Me
Greetings!
My name is Shaun Ona, but I go by "Keiran." I was born in Metro Manila, Philippines, and moved to the United States when I was 14. I initially moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where I spent my sophomore and junior years of high school before living in Clarksville, Tennessee, where I spent my senior year.
After I graduated High School, I decided to pursue a career in Music, specifically becoming a conductor and composer. Currently, I am studying at Berklee Online, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Musical Theory and Composition for TV, Film, and Games.
I am new to teaching, but I would love to start working with people from beginner to intermediate levels to see where they are and then determine how to proceed depending on the student's specific goals.
My Musical Education Background
I was told that before I was born, my mom would play classical music through her headphones and put it on her stomach. When I was one year old, I started to play an electric keyboard out of curiosity instead of the toddler music toys I had. I also tried the acoustic piano at my grandmother's house on my dad's side, which has a full 88 keys compared to the electric keyboard, before moving out to my grandfather's house from my mom's side.
Ever since, I've wanted to be able to play the full-scale piano. Every half year, we visit our grandfather in another city when that's only one of the few opportunities I had to play his acoustic piano.
I started my formal piano lessons at the age of 10. From there, I learned proper piano techniques through my lessons and from my experience of using improper techniques and correcting them, and continued to learn more advanced techniques from learning more advanced pieces.
Lesson Rates
Tuition fees will be monthly (4 lessons in a month), and rates as follows:
- $80/month for (4) 30 minutes lesson
- $100/month for (4) 45 minutes lesson
- $120/month for (4) 1 hour lesson
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I offer private lessons from age five and above at beginner to intermediate levels.
My Musical Influences
Since I'd already been listening to classical music before I was born, it significantly influenced me to listen to more classical music. At the age of 15, I started listening to Japanese music, which I immediately became obsessed with due to its unique style.
However, I respect students' preferences in music, and I would love to work with them to find what they like and provide them with the knowledge and skills they need and want for their favorite styles of music.
