About Me
I seek to enrich lives by teaching music at the piano in a supportive atmosphere. My task is to encourage effective practice habits and provide opportunities for performance.
Making music with others has been one of the joys of my life, and I enjoy helping others improve their skills in playing the piano.
For many years I was an Instructor of Music at Ohio Valley University where I also served as a collaborative pianist for various occassions.
My Musical Education Background
I have a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Lipscomb University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marshall University. I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through the Music Teachers National Association.
Genres and Subjects Taught
Piano and Music Theory
Piano students are expected to learn Music Theory as part of their music study. Beginner students usually study from the Piano Adventure lesson books. At the appropriate skill level, I teach classical music. Since students need a variety of music to play I include pop music, holiday music, or jazz as they show interest.
