About Me
Welcome to my music studio! It is my pleasure to get fully aquatinted with you and your child.
It is my desire to nurture the musical talent within each of my students and guide them towards discovering the beauty, intricacies and emotional content of music. My goal is to enable each student to become a knowledgeable musician: to read, understand and perform music, not mechanically, but in a way that touches the heart of the student and their audience.
Here are two offers for you to take advantage of:
1. September Family Special:
10% off this year’s tuition (September 1st,2013 through May 31st,2014) for two or more children from the same family that sign up for piano lessons before the end of this September.
2. One FREE trial lesson with no obligation to help you decide if I am the right teacher for your child.
My Musical Education Background
I was born in Bucharest, Romania, where I began studying music at the age of 5 years. My grandfather introduced me to the piano and my parents encouraged me to sing. All my life I have been surrounded by music. I attended Music Kindergarden, Music Elementary School and Music High School. After I graduated High School I entered the Music Conservatory in Bucharest in the Music Composition class. I studied there 2 years, after which my family and I moved to the United States.
In 1987 I was admitted to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and after 2 1/2 years graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition. Presently, I work as a piano teacher, composer, and pianist.
I have taught private piano lessons for over 25 years and voice lessons for the past 4 years. Along with piano I also teach basic and advanced music theory. I’ve accompanied many church choirs, conducted and trained adult and children choirs over the years. I’ve also had many public performances and concerts as a piano soloist and as the choir conductor. I record piano and orchestral accompaniments for different ministries and individuals. I regularly write and print music using Sibelius 5.0 software and record music on a Yamaha Clavinova CVP-303. I’ve recorded 13 personal CD’s and have been running Mihaela Williams Music as a home business for the past 16 years.

Lesson Rates
Tuition is based on attendance. I believe in charging only for actual lessons given, therefore my tuition is by the actual number of lesson in a month, not by a set monthly fee, providing that the system is not abused.
The lessons are provided at my home studio near Onion Creek and Northport area or at the House of Music in Colville. Due to the fact that the House of Music charges for room rental, the tuition there is higher than at my home studio by $3.00 per half hour, as seen in the table below.
Tuition should be paid in advance at the first lesson of each month, according to the number of weeks in each month.
30 minutes (for 8 and younger) - $15.00 (home studio) - $18.00 (Colville Studio)
45 minutes - $22.50 (home studio) - $25.50 (Colville Studio)
60 minutes - $30.00 (home studio) - $36.00 (Colville Studio)
Lessons may be rescheduled or credited only if teacher is notified at least by 8:00 am of the day of the lesson. Otherwise the lesson will be charged. If teacher is unable to have lesson (ie. vacation, sickness, etc.) the student will be notified and the lessons will be rescheduled or credited to the next month.
In case the parent or student desires to terminate the lessons, the teacher requests that the student will continue lessons until the end of the paid period. Early termination will not receive a refund.
The basic format of the lessons will be: finger exercises according to student’s level (scales, Hanon, etc.), repertoire music (lessons book songs, performance book songs, classical music – for more advanced students, hymns or arrangements of hymns – for those interested), theory and ear training.
The students will perform in two recitals per year: one in December and the second in May. There may be a small fee that each family is asked to pay to help with the hall rental fee.
Every student is expected to attend and be on time for every lesson or recital and should be picked up promptly after each class. Please note that there will be no extra time given if a student is late.
The parent agrees to provide a piano for his/her child, which will be tuned at least once per year. It is crucial for the development of the ear to have a tuned piano. Full size keyboards are OK, but they need to have at least the damper pedal and have the touch of a piano.
Parents are welcome to sit in on the class and are encouraged to observe their child’s practice time at home. Please check to be sure that your child is completing all of their assignments in their notebook.
Student agrees to practice 30 to 60 minutes per day (depending on the age) and at least five days a week.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I accept students that know how to read and can do basic math, like 1+3 = 4, usually from 6 yrs old up.

"We are very pleased with the progress our son has made under your tutelage. I've enjoyed sitting in his class, learning more about music. We appreciate teaching him how to distinguish between good and bad music." With much appreciation, Parents of J. M.

Hi Mrs. Williams! The reason that I am writing is to thank you for all of your work when you were teaching me piano and voice. Taking lessons with you opened up a whole new ministry for me that I might not have otherwise had the opportunity to have. Even after we moved from Washington, I used the accompaniment recordings that you made over and over and over again. You can now say that you have played the piano Virginia, Michigan, North Carolina, and even Poland and Czech Republic now! I just wanted to send this note of encouragement and see how you have been doing. Now that I'm a teacher both of music and English, I know that sometimes teachers wonder what the end results of their efforts will be. And even though the story hasn't finished, and Jesus hasn't come, your ministry has already touched hundreds of people just through one student. In His Service, L W

Dear Mihaela, I’m so sad to switch the children’s piano teacher at this point due to moving. S… really loved you as her piano teacher. I hope that the basics, for Christian pianists, that you taught her will stay with her for the rest of her life. Thank you so much for your patience and encouragement for J… As you saw, he really looked forward to his lessons each week. May God bless you richly.

Dear Mrs. Williams, Thank you for giving us the music lessons with so much patience and devotion. We appreciate your ability to bring out a musician in each one of us. May God bless you and your family in a very special way. We love you.”
