About Me
I am a teacher in the Pearland area. I have 3 children, two are finished with high school; two dogs, and a cat. I enjoy teaching in my home which is not far from Pearland High School.
My Musical Education Background
I have been playing piano for churches on and off for the past 20 years. I am qualified in reading music as well as playing by chord. My main experience has been with gospel music although I have kept up with mastering classical as well as contemporary styles of music. Along with playing, I have taught students in my home as a hobby. I enjoy the one-to-one interaction with my students as well as challenging them to excel at playing something I also enjoy. Additionally, I teach English in the Pearland school system, so I keep a limited number of piano students to encourage them in learning music as well as this instrument.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I enjoy using the Faber method for basic piano because it introduces the student to a variety of interesting muscal styles. I, however, am very aware of other methods which help students who are younger learners or who may not pick up on piano skills as quickly as the Faber books demand.
Lesson Rates
I charge $80 monthly. This covers an average of four 30 minute lessons per month. Sometimes the month has five weeks, and the extra lesson is included in that $80 fee. I also ask students to purchase their own books as well as encourage them to join the state music association in order to participate in contests and recitals in the area.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I have taught all age levels from 5 years to adult. I continue to enjoy the challenge from any age or experience.
My Musical Influences
I enjoy gospel, contemporary Christian, as well as jazz music.
