About Me
I am a licensed teacher for a preschool music program called KiddyKeys while also maintaining a private piano teaching studio. I have approximately 9 years of teaching experience. I have 4 beautiful children who keep me busy while I'm not teaching. I love that my job llows me to do what I love. I am passionate about making piano lessons fun for children. I especially love teaching my KiddyKeys classes which prepare students for private piano lessons.
My Musical Education Background
I have been playing the piano since age 8. I play the piano and organ weekly at my church and I have 9 years of piano teaching experience. I also keep current with new pedagogy that could benefit my students.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I offer private Piano lessons as well as my preschool KiddyKeys classes. With private piano students it has become my philosophy that I be aware of the new concepts the student will be learning that week and prepare accordingly, sometimes that means a game or a simple manipulative. I yearn not to be a "Turn the page and teach " piano teacher.
Lesson Rates
Now enrolling for summer KiddyKeys classes in Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo! Hurry, limitied space and will fill up quickly.
Sessions are 6 weeks of 45 minute classes. Enrollment fee is $90 for the entire session, with no materials charge.
Private piano lessons are $90 a month for 30 minute lessons and $120 a month for 45 minute lessons. I very highly encourage the 45 minute lessons. This extra 15 minutes alllows more theory,sightreading and performance prep.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I have and do currently teach beginners to late intermediate level students. My specialty is teaching the very young students. I teach my KiddyKeys preschool clases and then when your child is in Kindergarten they may begin either private lessons or semi-private 45 minute lessons. A semi-private lesson is a lesson with one other child of the same age (usually a friend). At first grade age they need to move on to private lessons.

My Certifications and Awards
I do not hold a degree in music, however, when I decided 9 years ago that I would start teaching piano, I studied every book, went to every class, every web class, anything I could get my hands on to help me be better than a teacher with a degree. I wanted to be the best. I believe I am not done with my piano pedagogy studies, I am always learning new things, trying new things.I like to be at the forefront of any new pedagogy tips, tricks, and repertoire teaching suggestions.
My Musical Influences
I have taught many students up to late intermedate levels where they will carry this knowledge throughout their entire life.
My students have learned that piano can be fun, that theory concepts can be taught by a simple game instead of a pencil pointing to a page;
I play piano and organ at my church and have done so from a very young age.
