My Musical Education Background
I have been taking piano lessons for most of my life. To be exact - 19 years! I attended McKendree University and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance. Throughout my piano career, I have accompanied solo instrumentalists and vocalists, as well as choral groups. Since teaching at the Yamaha Piano Distributors, I have broadened my education even further to include expertise in digital pianos. I am always continuing and expanding my musical education! You never stop learning!
Genres and Subjects Taught
I believe a student should be introduced to every aspect of music from the beginning; therefore, I incorporate music theory and technique into every lesson, as well as teach performance etiquette.
I also have fun music games that help reinforce the lesson and theory. These games are a really fun way to keep the student active and interested (especially the really young ones)! It presents the material in another form.
I welcome the opportunity for my students to compose! For some of them, composing is their passion! I fully support and offer guidence in any aspect.
In lessons using the digital piano, we are able to make background orchestrations that accompany the piano piece. This helps with creativity and makes the student in control.
Though I am a classically trained pianist, I teach all genres- from classical to modern, from jazz to pop music.

My Musical Influences
I am so grateful to my very first piano teacher, who recognized and nurtured my talent knowing I could make piano my life. She showed me I could turn something I love, not just into a hobby, but a successful career where I can inspire my students as she inspired me.
Other musical influences would be Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Beethoven, Gershwin, plus many more!
Also, throughout my childhood I watched a lot of great musicals. I saw great actors, dancers, and singers able to make the music come alive. Those people were able to really show off the great music!
