About Me

I serve as Music Associate for First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth. My passion is to make music with others and to teach students and choirs to love music making. I work with all ages and have 30 years of experience in playing and teaching organ and piano, early childhood music classes, choirs and handbells. Having recently moved to Fort Worth to take my position at First Presbyterian, I am just beginning to teach here and so have openings. I am also Mom to one son, now 10, who has special needs and has taught me a lot about working with students who learn a bit differently than most. I believe that everyone has the ability to enjoy making music.

My Musical Education Background

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Judson College in Marion, AL with a major in Music Education and minor in Piano. I also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Same school in Organ Performance.

My Master of Music Degree is in Organ Performance from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Genres and Subjects Taught

I teach piano and organ lessons to all ages and abilities. Currently, my teaching is done in my home. Contact me to set up a meeting or to discuss your musical goals.

Lesson Rates

1/2 hour lesson = $20/week (for most beginners and early intermediate students) 45-min. lesson = $30/week (for late intermediate and advanced students) 1 hour lesson = $40/week (for advanced students)

Ages / Skill Levels Taught

Piano Lessons for ages 5-Adult I teach all skill levels from beginning to advance. I will match your lesson plans to meet your goals and abilities. I am experienced in working with students who range from very gifted to those with special learning challenges.

My Certifications and Awards

I am an Early Childhood Music Specialist due to the numerous summer study weeks I've spent to cover every level of Early Childhood Music, from birth - age 8. I currently teach the Musikgarten Curriculum through the Fine Arts School at First Presbyterian.

In 1991, I competed in the American Guild of Organists Young Artist Competition in Chicago, after winning the Ann Arbor competition.
