About Me
I've been taking piano lessons since the age of 4, violin lessons since age 9. My teaching career started with giving private piano lessons in 1999 with only a hand full of students. While attending UC Berkeley full time, I grew more passionate about teaching while commuting 90 miles each weekend, traveling from Berkeley to Sacramento, to educate all of my students. Within three years, the original plan of teaching part-time nearly grew into a full-time job. My personal goal is to expand Sara's Music Lessons throughout the community, making it beneficial and easily accessible to those with the passion to learn music.
How Music Education Benefit Children Studying music has proven to be an extremely rewarding endeavor for all ages. The discipline and dedication required for such study will carry over into a child's adult and professional life. Some of the immediate benefits of studying an instrument include the following:
**Hand-Eye Coordination**
**Concentration**
**Memory Development**
**Personal Discipline**
**Higher Self-Esteem**
**Higher Academic Scores**
How Music Education Benefit Adults Studies have found that there are also benefits for teaching adults to play music. Many different mental and physical skills are involved including:
**Physical Coordination**
**Mental Concentration**
**Memory Skills**
**Improve Visual and Aural Abilities**
**Decrease Anxiety, Depression, and Loneliness**
My goal is to make music lessons FUN and students are rewarded with points and prizes. We have recitals twice a year to show case the talent of our students. There are lots of games, talented performers, prizes, and food at each recital!

Sara has proven over and over again to be a really good piano and violin teacher. She has a heart to really help kids learn the joy of music. I've played in an orchestra, at weddings and funerals with Sara. I would recommend her to all of my friends.

I have known Sara for the past 3 yrs she has taught my daughter piano lessons. The impact she has made as an effective teacher to my daughter has been outstanding. My daughter has achieved tremendous advancement in her piano studies and a big part of that success is because of her teacher. Sara balances her teaching so that the students enjoy what they are learning while learning to set high goals for themselves. She truly puts everything into her students and cares for them deeply. I have recommended her to other parents who are seeking a good teacher for their children and they all are very happy with her. Sara is a committed Christian, has very strong academic credentials, along with many years of teaching experience.

Sara has proven to be a dependable, professional and knowledgeable teacher. She was quickly able to assess the level of piano instruction needed to motivate me to learn and improve my previously acquired piano playing skills. Sara has good communication skills and ensures she is continually aware of what my piano playing goals are in order to incorporate those goals into her lesson plans for me. Sara is firm and organized in her instruction as well as an encouraging and patient teacher. At a recent recital, I was most impressed with the level of confidence each of Sara's students displayed when playing the piano regardless of skill level. Sara effectively challenges me to play piano music beyond what I think I am capable of playing in order to promote growth in my skill level, to help me gain confidence in my ability to play the piano, and to encourage me to achieve my personal goals.

I have been taking piano lessons from Sara for approximately 8 years. She teaches with a great deal of patience and concern for her students' success. She avails herself to her students when ever they may need help outside of the scheduled lesson. She is motivated, motivating and offers a great deal of encouragement. I was 58yrs old when I decided to learn piano. I feel extremely fortunate in finding Sara for my teacher. She is very knowledgeable and is an excellent pianist herself. Without her patience, caring and understanding I probably would not have continued taking lessons.

My eldest daughter, then age 10, began piano instruction with Sara in January of 2003. At that time she was "mildly" excited to learn the instrument. By that spring, she had the energetic passion for the piano, a passion that was sparked and fostered by Sara. In my eyes, Sara is tutoring my daughter in much more than music; she is teaching my daughter about herself. Since that time, Logan, as is expected, has had bouts with staying motivated as the difficulty level of her lessons rise. However Sara has been able to say or do the right thing and keep her learning and loving it. We started our younger daughter in piano lesson with Sara. As was our experience with Logan, Sara proved her ability to teach, motivate and support even a six year old mind. Piano is now deeply embedded in our family structure and provides my girls with a goal and a means to achieve it. The goal is passing on the love of and ability to make music to their children. The means is passion, technique and motivation all provided by Sara Rosenthal. My wife and I consider Sara an indispensable resource in the raising of our daughters and therefore whole heartedly recommend and endorse Sara!

Sara is a highly intelligent, perceptive young woman. She came highly recommended as an excellent piano instructor. Our son has been instructed in piano by Sara for the past four years. Because of her positive disposition, our son has not only excelled as a piano player, but has also learned to enjoy playing the piano during his leisure. Always, in her work as a piano instructor, Sara is consistent, dedicated, passionate, enthusiastic, cheerful, and a pleasure to work with. She has incredible creative energies and a refreshing idealism tempered only enough to accomplish what needs to be done. I highly recommend her to other students, so she can spread her talents with others!
