My Musical Education Background
I started playing the piano at age 5, and by age 12, I was the top student in my studio, where I received a classical training. I began serving my church as a pianist the same year I made top student. The next year I also became the accompanist for the school choir, a position I held until my high school graduation. Here I expanded my repertoire to all genres, even improvisation! I was hired as an assistant teacher at another music studio, and began taking my own students at age 16. I received honors in every festival in which I participated throughout high school. At graduation, I performed a full solo recital, including Impromptu in A-flat Major by Schubert, Arabeske in C by Schumann, Sonata in C minor (Pathetique) by Beethoven, and my personal favorite, Berceuse by Chopin. I continued my training at Brigham Young University, until I left university life to start my own family here in Gardnerville, NV where I currently teach.
I also play the organ. I expanded my horizons to the pipe organ when I was about 15. My training is in sacred music, mostly accompanying for worship services. I also studied organ at university and have served as an organist for my congregation.
Other musical training I have received includes voice, violin, clarinet, and flute.
I’ve been playing piano for 24 years, accompanying for 16, and teaching for 13. I love music, and I love sharing. I have lots of experience with kids and I love teaching. I also play a number of other instruments, so I am a very empathetic accompanist. I’ve been on the other side and I know how important it is to have a pianist you can trust to get her part right and make you sound good.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I incorporate music theory, composition, improvisation, sight reading, ear training, and music history as it related to the student's goals.

Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I teach all ages and skill levels for piano.
I teach general music classes fo preschoolers, using the "Little Mozarts" curriculum. This is a group class that offers an introduction to musicality, beginning music concepts, and music history and provides a solid base of experience no matter what instrument the child choses to pursue in the future.
I teach woodwinds up to the early advanced level, mostly Middle and High School band students looking to expand their skills and make greater progress in their instruments.
I teach children's and teen's voice lessons up to the early advanced level. I teach classical methods, but offer a variety of styles in the repertoire.
I also have training in pipe organ and happily teach beginners, whether or not they have previous keyboard experience.
I incorporate theory, composition, improvisation, sight reading, and ear training in all of my student's training, as it relates to their goals.
