About Me
I teach lessons on a grand piano in my home studio, located on a quiet neighborhood. I am also available to teach in student homes on Mondays during daytime and early afternoon hours.
My Musical Education Background
In addition to a master's in music education, I have an associate's degree in piano pedagogy ("how to teach piano") and a bachelor's from the highly-regarded Indiana University School of Music. I teach students as young as 4 and as old as anybody who wants to learn. I have successefully taught K-8 general music, choir and band, but enjoy focusing on providing students with the one-to-one attention that helps them reach their full potential.
Lesson Rates
My goal is to make high-quality piano instruction accessible to as many people as possible, so I charge only $35 per half hour lesson (less for very young students, and motivated students with financial challenges) and $60 for full-hour lessons.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
Lessons for ages 4-5, elementary, teens, adults of all ages. I teach beginners through advanced students of all ages, but have special training for very young beginners and special needs students.
My Musical Influences
I have been trained in the Kodaly theories and techniques of music education, a way of teaching music emphasizes the fact that anybody can joyfully make music if given the proper instruction and support. Kodaly-based teachers view musical development as every child's natural birthright. This perspective infuses my piano lessons as I work to develop the whole musician and teach students to create, perform and understand music in a variety of ways.
