About Me
My music experience? Bottom line: if it's in the field of music, I've probably done it!
I have accompanied for many, many classical vocalists and instrumentalists. In addition, I have played keyboards/synthesizers for rock and popular singers.
Musical Theatre is a passion of mine (my daughter is a Musical Theatre major!), and I have acted as Music Director and/or keyboard player in many musical theatre productions in California, Washington and Colorado. Most recently (June - August, 2013) I played for The Drowsy Chaperone at the Fine Arts Center, and with the Platte Valley Players in their production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!
I have taught on the college level for 13 years: Intro to Music, History of Twentieth Century Music, History of Rock Music, History of Jazz, Sight Singing and Ear Training, Class Piano, Private Piano and Private Accompanying, and I am passionate about my students!
Additionally, I accompanied/coached at Cheyenne Mountain High School for 8 years.
I've worked in church music, classical music, popular/rock music and musical theatre throughout my musical life, and as a consequence, tend to teach "real world" piano skills, including a very user-friendly approach to reading and playing from chord symbols (used mainly in church music and popular music).
With my private piano students, I believe in giving a well-rounded and varied music experience to my students while fulfilling your specific music desires/goals.
I welcome ALL ages and levels! I love beginners, as well as senior citizens who want to work on a specific skill!
My Musical Education Background
I earned my Doctor of Musical Arts and Masters of Music degrees in Collaborative Piano (Accompanying) from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, and my Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance from Point Loma University.
