About Me
I was born in Ridgecrest, CA and have recently returned after almost 10 years of being away. I love all music genres and have a great appreciation for what music brings into our lives!
I'm one of those weird teachers that will refuse to teach students that are being forced into music by their parents, scholarship requirements, or other ulterior motives. That is the reason for my age requirements. I will certainly make exceptions for students that prove to me that they love piano and practice daily because they love it, not as a chore.
I will also push you to improve. A student's progress is entirely their own. One of my favorite teachers once told me that, "Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect." This means that practicing isn't enough! Each student needs their own motivation, love, and drive to reach the goals a competent teacher helps them set.
What it's like learning from me.
My Musical Education Background
I began piano lessons when I was five years old with a local piano teacher that specialized in teaching young children. I love the piano and have enjoyed playing for as long as I can remember.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I was trained in classical piano techniques and history; therefore, my teaching methods are also classical—some have even called me "old-school". But I love all types of music and always encourage my stundents to play what they enjoy. In fact, I often require my more advanced students to broaden their scope by playing Ragtime, Jazz, and even modern compositions from their favorite video games.
