About Me

I've lived in Linton, Indiana since 1997. My husbund is the senior pastor at First Baptist Church, where I serve as a volunteer teacher and musician. I started Up Right Studio in June of 2009 when a group of Linton citizens started the Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center of Greene County. My studio is was on the "second floor on the right" (hence the studio name). Before teaching privately, I spent 16.5 years in public school music education. I taught from the Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center of Greene County through August 2015.  I moved back to public school in the fall of 2015 to take the choral/drama teaching position at Linton-Stockton Jr./Sr. High School.  In the fall of 2016, I moved my private studio into my home and have been teaching privately from there ever since.  We have two adult children and two very handsome grandsons.   I've always loved teaching and making music.

Lesson Rates

Monthly tuition for private lessons (avg. 4 per month, 30 min each): $80.00

Monthly "Add a Sibling" tuition: $60.00

Monthly Group tuition (per student)(2/3 per group) $50.00

Overdue tuition fee: $10.00 per student if payment received after the 15th.

Apr: $80.00 - plus keyboard master class

May: $80.00 - plus spring recital

Jun: $40.00 - Tyra vacation (two weeks)

Sep: $80.00 - plus string activity

Nov: $80.00 - Fall Recital

Dec: $80.00 - Christmas Recital Party

Up Right Studio is open year round, Tuesday through Saturday.
No lessons during Linton-Stockton Thanksgiving Break
No Lessons during Linton-Stockton Christmas Break
No lessons when July 4th coincides with a regularly scheduled lesson.

Boys and Girls ages 5-18 - beginning through late intermediate.

Women of all ages beginning through late intermediate.

My Musical Influences

I consider myself "influenced" by many kinds of music. My favorites are classical (choral and instrumental), sacred, jazz of all kinds, folk music (especially of Celtic origin). I do admit to a passion for BlueGrass.
